No. 6 Lehigh Heads To No. 1 Loyola For Patriot League Semifinals

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - No. 6 seed Lehigh women's lacrosse heads to the Patriot League Tournament semifinals as they play at No. 1 Loyola at 3 p.m. in Baltimore.Â

Lehigh (8-8, 3-6 PL) is coming off a 12-11 double overtime win, upsetting No. 3 Army on Sunday. Graduate student Cassie Marte tied her career high with four goals for the Mountain Hawks. Marte dished the game-winning assist to classmate Emma Eberhardt with 1:36 remaining in the second overtime, capturing the win for Lehigh.Â

Sunday's victory marked the first time a No. 6 seed defeated the No. 3 seed in the Patriot League quarterfinals since the tournament expanded to six teams in 2014.

On Monday, senior Hayley Hunt was named the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year, landing on the first team. Four other Mountain Hawks earned spots on the all-league teams as Gabby Schneider joined Hunt on the first team, while Olivia Memeger, Cassie Marte and Brynn Freeman were named to the second team.Â

The Greyhounds secured their eighth consecutive Patriot League regular season championship with a record of 15-2 this season and 9-0 mark in Patriot League play. Loyola leads the all-time series 16-5, most recently earning an 11-5 win over Lehigh in three quarters on March 23. Schneider led Lehigh with two goals and two assists, while Marte earned the program's career draw control record in the loss.Â

Thursday's semifinal matchup is at the Ridley Athletic Complex in Baltimore, with opening draw at 3 p.m. No. 2 Navy faces No. 4 Holy Cross in the second semifinal at 7 p.m.Â
