BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's tennis is in store for a big weekend of action, as the Mountain Hawks will travel to the northeast for three Patriot League dual meets. Lehigh will face Holy Cross, Army West Point and Boston U. over the course of three days in Massachusetts.
Lehigh (9-8, 2-1 PL) currently is riding a two-match win streak following wins over Colgate and Wagner. The Mountain Hawks earned a 4-1 win over Colgate this past Sunday and a 4-0 win against the Wagner Seahawks on Tuesday. The Raiders won the opening doubles point, but the Mountain Hawks tallied four-straight singles wins to clinch their second Patriot League win of the year. The team then took care of business against the Seahawks, needing only one singles win to do so after multiple forfeits and a doubles point win.
Holy Cross (3-9, 2-4 PL) enters the weekend coming off the heels of a 4-3 victory over Navy. The Crusaders earned the doubles point and proceeded to win singles three, five and six to secure the victory. Their match against Lehigh will be Holy Cross' final Patriot League bout prior to the start of the league championship, however, the Crusaders will take part in three additional non-league matches prior to the postseason.
Army West Point (11-12, 3-0 PL) earned a 4-3 win against the St. Bonaventure Bonnies this past Saturday, snapping a two-match losing streak that saw them earn no points over a road trip against UC Irvine and Loyola Marymount. The Black Knights are undefeated in Patriot League play, conceding only one point across three wins over Holy Cross, Loyola (Md.) and Holy Cross.
Boston U. (16-7, 4-0 PL) have been hot as of late, winning each of their past five duals. Four of those wins have been against Patriot League teams, as the Terriers earned wins over Navy, Colgate, Bucknell and Holy Cross. The Terriers will take on Army West Point on Friday prior to their matchup with the Mountain Hawks on Sunday.
Lehigh will first take on Holy Cross at 3:30 p.m. on Friday followed by a neutral site match at 11 a.m. against Army West Point on Saturday. The Mountain Hawks will conclude their trip to Massachusetts against Boston U. at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
