MARLBORO, Mass. – Lehigh men's tennis kicked off a three-day road trip to the northeast to take on three Patriot League schools, starting with a matchup against Holy Cross. The Mountain Hawks won the first four singles matches in order to clinch their third league victory.
Lehigh (10-8, 3-1 PL) conceded the opening doubles point to Holy Cross (3-10, 2-5 PL) after dropping wins at numbers two and three. Teddy Callery and Declan O'Flynn of Holy Cross got things started for the Crusaders with a 6-2 win at number two, but Matt Kleiman and Marc Blekhman's win at number one set the third match as the deciding one. Camilo Illanes and Connor Nelson earned a 6-4 win to clinch the doubles point for their team.
After dropping the dual's opening point, the Mountain Hawks responded with the first singles point of the day. Kleiman defeated Nelson at the number one spot 6-3, 6-1 to pick up the point for Lehigh. Approximately 30 minutes later, Blekhman followed suit with a two-set victory at number two to put his team ahead 2-1. Sean Jaeger then earned another win for Lehigh at number three with a two-set victory that went to a tiebreak in each set, and all of a sudden, the Mountain Hawks were one win away from victory.
In the fourth match, Jackson Morash and the Crusaders' Henry Winiecki needed a tiebreak to decide the first set, which Morash won 7-3. Following the tiebreaker, Morash defeated Winiecki 6-1 in set number two to clinch the dual meet victory for the Mountain Hawks.
