
Offensive Team Effort Leads Lehigh To First Home Win Of The Season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh women's lacrosse team picked up its first home win of the season, defeating Wofford College 15-9 on Sunday at the Ulrich Sports Complex.

Graduate student Emma Eberhardt led Lehigh in scoring with five goals and two assists (seven points), while first-year Molly Snow also had a day with four goals and two assists (six points). First-year Grace Martel (three goals), senior Olivia Memeger (two goals, three assists), graduate student Gabby Schneider (one goal, four assists), along with graduate student Cassie Marte (one assist) and first-year Shannon Nolan (one assist) all recorded points on the day.

Eberhardt netted the first goal of the contest at 11:56 in the first quarter off an assist from Schneider, giving Lehigh a 1-0 lead. Wofford responded with two goals before Lehigh went on a four-goal run to finish off the first quarter, taking a 5-2 advantage at the break. Snow scored two, Schneider added one and Martel added her first goal of the afternoon. Memeger, Nolan and Snow all picked up assists in the run.

Wofford picked up an early goal in the second quarter, cutting Lehigh's deficit to two with 13:16 remaining in the half. Eberhardt claimed her second of the game off an assist from Snow. The rookie quickly responded with a goal of her own less than 30 seconds later, giving the Mountain Hawks a 7-3 lead with just over 12 minutes remaining in the half.

The Terriers' Emma Stalteri scored two unassisted goals in the final five minutes of the half, decreasing Lehigh's lead to 7-5. Memeger added her first goal of the day and Eberhardt completed her hat trick with 22 seconds remaining in the half as the Mountain Hawks led 9-5 at intermission.

The Mountain Hawks added four goals in the third quarter, as Snow, Eberhardt, Martel and Memeger led Lehigh to a 13-7 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Eberhardt capped off her four goal afternoon and Martel completed her hat trick as Lehigh captured the 15-9 win over the Terriers.

Senior Hayley Hunt played all 60 minutes in net, recording eight saves and one ground ball. Marte earned 13 draw controls, putting her 32 away from the all-time record. First-year Brynn Freeman led Lehigh with three caused turnovers while sophomore Lauren Warfield added two.

The Mountain Hawks (2-1) return home at 2 p.m. next Saturday to play host to Old Dominion.
