Lehigh Opens Up Season With Win Versus Rider

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - The Lehigh men's swimming and diving team opened its 2024-25 season with a big win over Rider as the Mountain Hawks won 155.5-138.5. Lehigh totaled nine individual wins on Friday. 

"It was overall one of the most positive nights of Lehigh swimming and diving in the last five years," said head coach Rob Herb

Lehigh's first-years had an incredible performance in the season opener. First-year Will Pestrichelli shined, winning three events in his collegiate debut. Pestrichelli won the 200-yard butterfly (1:59.13), the 500-yard freestyle (4:49.41) and the 1000-yard freestyle (9.55.72). 

First-year Frankie Prekop won the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.68) and first-year Jack Deppe won the 200-yard backstroke (2:10.51) and the 200-yard IM (1:54.77)

Junior Ben Kisker totaled multiple wins as he won the 100-yard backstroke (51.74) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:54.63). First-year Tristan Ronayne was right behind Kisker in the 200-yard backstroke, coming in second with a time of 1:54.65.

Junior Aaron Williams totaled a win in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 50.86 and a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (21.39). 

Senior Connor Goodyear picked up a couple of second-place marks in the 200-yard freestyle (1:44.44) and the 200-yard butterfly (1:59.63). 

Senior diver Jack Grotke came in third place in the one-meter dive with 143.55 points and third in the three-meter dive with 111.83 points. 

The Mountain Hawks will have less than 24 hours before traveling to West Chester to take on the Golden Rams and Bloomsburg at 1 p.m. at the Graham Natatorium.
