Lehigh Captures First Win of the Season Against Monmouth

LITTLE SILVER, N.J. - Lehigh women's tennis defeated Monmouth 5-2 on Saturday in the first dual meet of the season. This marks the second straight year the Mountain Hawks opened up their fall dual match season with a win against the Hawks.
Lehigh won the doubles point, and the Mountain Hawks carried their momentum into singles, winning four of its six singles matches.
Audrey Harrington and Hamsa Javagal won their doubles match 6-2 against Lenien Jamier and Hana McKinney. Maggie Forkner and Giselle Vlassis defeated Ximena Cano and Lauren Landstrom 6-3. Anushka and Megha Dania lost 6-4 to Lana Brezanin and Jordyn Pax.Â
In the first round of singles, Javagal lost the first set 4-6 to Lana Brezanin, but came back and won the next two sets 7-6, 10-9.Â
Forkner won both of her sets against Hana McKinney 6-0, 6-0.
Megha Dania defeated Lenien Jamir 6-1, 6-2.Â
Letzer lost the first set 6-4 and won the next set 6-3, but couldn't clinch the final set, falling 10-6 to Madison Mills.
Harrington won the first set 6-3, but was taken down by Ximena Cano 6-3 and 10-6 in the final two sets.Â
After dropping the first set 5-7, Vlassis came back and won the next two sets against Lauren Landstro 6-0 and 10-6.Â
The Mountain Hawks will be back in action at the ITA Regionals at Columbia University from Oct. 6-8.Â
Doubles
Singles
