Javagal Named First Team All-Patriot League

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh sophomore Hamsa Javagal has been named first team All-Patriot League as the league announced its postseason awards for women's tennis Wednesday afternoon. This is the second consecutive year in which Javagal has received all-league recognition. She earned a spot on the second team as a first-year last season.

The All-Patriot League teams and major awards are voted on by the league's head coaches.

Javagal completed her second season as Lehigh's No. 1 singles player, competing against the opposition's top players. The Brentwood, Tenn., product went 9-7 in singles at the top flight in 2023, including a 4-3 mark in the Patriot League regular season. Javagal defeated opponents from Loyola, Lafayette, Bucknell and Army West Point in singles action, with her Bucknell and Army counterparts also earning first team all-league honors. The nine victories tied Javagal with Megha Dania for the team lead, while Javagal's four league wins were the most on the squad.

In doubles, Javagal and first-year Bella Peters led the Mountain Hawks with a 9-6 record and 4-3 league mark. Javagal and Peters went 7-4 at the No. 3 flight and 2-2 at No. 2.

Navy's Emily Tannenbaum was voted Player of the Year while Army's Cooper Jackson and Paige Herremans were selected as Doubles Team of the Year. Patriot League champion Boston University had the Rookie of the Year (Emily Zhao) and Coach of the Year (Lesley Sheehan).
