Lehigh Soars to 16-11 win over American, Eberhardt Scores 100th Career Goal

WASHINGTON - The Lehigh women's lacrosse team's offense exploded for 16 goals in a 16-11 win over American Saturday afternoon at the Jacobs Complex.Â
Lehigh improved to 8-5 (3-3 PL), and American dropped to 6-6 (2-3 PL).
Gabby Schneider led the way with six points for the second straight game, recording five goals and one assist. Schneider was one of four Mountain Hawks to score at least three goals on Saturday.
Katia Carnevale scored five goals, and Olivia Memeger and Emma Eberhardt both scored three goals. Eberhardt recorded her 100th career goal in the second quarter and also dished out two assists. Her milestone goal gave Lehigh a 5-2 lead.Â
Despite the Eagles scoring the first goal of the game, the Mountain Hawks got their first lead of the game after two straight goals from Carenvale, and Lehigh wouldn't look back.
Memeger gave Lehigh an 8-2 lead with 10:02 to play in the first half, but the Eagles would end the half on a 3-0 run to trail just 8-5 at halftime.
Rachel Kolton scored another goal for American to start the second half, which cut the deficit to two, but the Mountain Hawks went on a 3-0 run.
In the fourth quarter, Lehigh's defense held strong, and the offense kept producing goals to give Lehigh the win.
The Mountain Hawks held a 17-11 advantage in draw controls and a 30-19 advantage in shots. Cassie Marte had eight draw controls, Eberhardt had seven, and Emma Fiore won two.
American had 16 turnovers and 10 of those were caused by Lehigh. Carnevale had a game-high of three caused turnovers. Marte caused two.
Hayley Hunt was credited with six saves for Lehigh.
American was led by Kolton, who finished with a hat trick.
The Mountain Hawks will welcome host Boston University on April 15 at 6 p.m., which will also be Senior Night. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
