Women's Tennis Rivalry Match Set For Sunday In Easton

3/31/2023 10:17:00 AM | Women's Tennis

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's tennis team is ready for the Rivalry. The Mountain Hawks will make the short trip to Easton on Sunday to face Lafayette on the Leopard Courts. First serves are now set for 1 p.m.

Lehigh will be looking to bounce back from an 0-2 showing last weekend. The Mountain Hawks fell 7-0 at home to Navy on Saturday and then were edged 4-3 at Colgate on Sunday. Lehigh won the doubles point against the Raiders but Colgate rallied in singles play with four victories.

Junior Megha Dania and sophomore Allyce Gaborik both won singles matches to go along with doubles wins as Lehigh swept the doubles matches against Colgate. Dania's 7-3 singles record at the No. 2 flight is tops on the team. She and sister Anushka are 5-5 together at the top doubles flight.

Lehigh's most successful doubles team has been the No. 3 pairing of sophomore Hamsa Javagal and first-year Bella Peters, who are 6-4. Javagal also plays No. 1 singles for the Mountain Hawks.

Lafayette is 1-2 in league action. The Leopards were blanked by Colgate and Army last weekend before defeating Holy Cross 4-0 to close out the three-match swing.

The Leopards will visit St. Francis Brooklyn Saturday before hosting Lehigh on Sunday.

Lehigh enters Sunday's match having won 19 straight against Lafayette. Last year, Megha Dania delivered the clinching point in a tightly-contested 4-3 Lehigh victory at the Lewis Tennis Center.

Following Sunday's match, Lehigh will host Bucknell on Saturday, April 8 at noon.
