Lehigh Closes out Road Swing with Loss to Loyola

BALTIMORE – The Lehigh women's lacrosse team's six-game winning streak was snapped in a 16-6 defeat to No. 9 Loyola Saturday afternoon at the Ridley Athletic Complex.
Lehigh is now 6-2 (1-1 PL), and the Greyhounds are 7-2 (1-0 PL).
The Greyhounds scored the first seven goals of the game before senior Emma Eberhardt put Lehigh on the board with 2:38 left in the first half. Eberhardt led Lehigh with three goals.
Jillian WIlson would put the Greyhounds back up by seven with 23 seconds left in the first half to give them an 8-1 lead at the half.
Gabby Schneider netted the first goal of the third quarter, but the Greyhounds would score the next three goals.
In the fourth quarter, Eberhardt and Olivia Memeger scored back-to-back goals in less than a minute, but Loyola went on a 3-0 run from there.
The difference on Saturday would be the draw controls. Loyola held a 19-6 advantage including all five in the first quarter, which fueled the Greyhounds' fast start.
Lehigh had 18 shots compared to Loyola's 34. Jillian Wilson had a game-high of five points (4G, 1A). Wilson also recorded a game-high nine draw controls.
Senior Cassie Marte scored Lehigh's sixth goal and had four of the Mountain Hawks' six draw controls.
Hayley Hunt tallied nine saves for Lehigh, while Loyola's Lauren Spence finished with four saves.
The Mountain Hawks forced 13 turnovers on Saturday. Lauren Warfield caused two of those to lead the defense. Lehigh also turned it over 13 times on Saturday.
After a four-game road trip, the Mountain Hawks will return home to the Ulrich Sports Complex on March 25 against Navy, which is the first of two straight home games for Lehigh. Opening draw is set for noon with coverage on ESPN+.
