Checo and Sisselberger Earn Patriot League Weekly Awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh men's lacrosse's Richard Checo and Mike Sisselberger both earned Patriot League Weekly awards, as announced by the league Monday afternoon.Â
Checo was named the Defensive Player of the Week, and Sisselberger was named Faceoff Specialist of the Week. This is Checo's first career weekly award and Sisselberger's second weekly award of the season.Â
Checo and Sisselberger were both instrumental in helping Lehigh come away with two wins last week.
In Tuesday's 14-13 win over Binghamton, Checo picked up eight ground balls and caused four turnovers. He followed that up with another impressive performance in the 18-11 win vs. Holy Cross, where he caused four turnovers and grabbed two ground balls. Checo currently leads the nation in caused turnovers (4.17 caused turnovers per game).
Sisselberger went 16-of-29 at the faceoff "x", and picked up 13 ground balls in the win over the Bearcats. Sisselberger also won 20-of-28 faceoffs and 15 ground balls. Sisselberger is 100-of-167 (59%) at the stripe this season. He record an assist earlier this year versus Hobart.
Scott Cole and Nick Pecora both earned honorable mentions from the Patriot League. Cole had a career-high of seven goals, scoring the game-winning goal against Binghamton. He had another six-point game against Holy Cross.Â
Pecora grabbed two wins this week. The junior goalkeeper tallied 14 saves versus Binghamton and 11 saves against Holy Cross.
The Mountain Hawks return to the Ulrich Sports Complex to host No. 13/15 Army West Point Saturday at noon.Â
