Lehigh Defeats Loyola 15-10 in Baltimore

BALTIMORE - The Lehigh Mountain Hawks defeated the Loyola Greyhounds, 15-10, Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Mountain Hawks improved to 1-2 in Patriot League play and 3-4 overall this season. Loyola fell to 4-3 overall and 1-1 in league play.
Lehigh's offense delivered a balanced and explosive performance Saturday afternoon. Luke Winkler led the charge, finding the back of the net three times to record his third hat trick of the season. Colin French, Luke Breslin, Peter Theodoropoulos, Jack Archer and Finn Morgan each added two goals, powering a relentless Mountain Hawks attack in the 15-10 victory. Breslin also paced Lehigh with four assists, helping fuel the Mountain Hawks' balanced scoring effort.
The Patriot League leader and the NCAA's all-time leader in caused turnovers, Richard Checo added three more Saturday afternoon.
Kasey Heath recorded a season-high 17 saves for Lehigh Saturday afternoon.
Winkler struck first for the Mountain Hawks, scoring just minutes into the game. Loyola responded, and the teams went back and forth until Winkler scored again to tie the game at 3. The Greyhounds then scored three straight goals to take a 6-3 lead into the second quarter.
Loyola scored the first two goals of the second period, including one from Kevin Everhart, who led the Greyhounds with three goals Saturday afternoon. The Mountain Hawks responded by scoring three of the next four goals to cut the halftime deficit to three, 9-6.
Lehigh came out of the halftime locker room on fire, opening the half on a 3-0 run capped by a goal from Kelly, assisted by Breslin, to tie the game at 9-9. Loyola briefly retook the lead, but back-to-back goals from Morgan and French gave the Mountain Hawks an 11-10 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.
Hunter Polonkey opened the fourth-quarter scoring, firing one into the back of the net to give Lehigh a 12-10 lead. Breslin, Archer and Theodoropoulos each added goals in the quarter as the Mountain Hawks pulled away to secure the 15-10 victory.
