Lehigh Wins Third Straight, Defeats Holy Cross 13-5

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh rolled past Holy Cross, 13-5, on Saturday afternoon, extending its win streak to three games. With the victory, the Mountain Hawks improve to 5-4 overall and 2-2 in Patriot League play.
For the Crusaders, the Mountain Hawks snapped their winning streak as they fell to 5-4 overall and 2-2 in Patriot League play.
Lehigh was paced by Luke Breslin, who totaled six points on four goals and two assists. Andrew Kelly led the Mountain Hawks with three assists while adding two goals of his own, and his second assist of the game marked the 100th point of his career.
Finn Morgan also recorded a hat trick, his seventh game this season with three or more goals.
Lehigh was strong defensively, holding Holy Cross to just five goals. Harrison Vassel was impressive on the defensive end, recording a career-high three caused turnovers while picking up three ground balls. Ricardo Checo and Morgan each added two more turnovers, helping the Mountain Hawks control the game.
Both teams got off to a slow start, with Owen Tunney putting Holy Cross on the board first in the opening period. His goal gave the Crusaders a 1-0 lead, the only score of the period.
In the second quarter, Holy Cross jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the period. Peter Theodoropoulos cut the deficit in half with a goal midway through the quarter, making it 2-1. The Crusaders responded shortly after to push the lead back to 3-1, but Lehigh finished the half on a 3-0 run. Goals from Winkler, Kelly, and Breslin gave the Mountain Hawks a 4-3 lead heading into the locker room.
The second half belonged to Lehigh, as the Mountain Hawks outscored Holy Cross 9-2. Morgan opened the scoring with 9:14 left in the third quarter, giving Lehigh a 5-3 lead. Hunter Polonkey added another to extend the advantage to 6-3. Breslin, Morgan, and Colin French combined for three of the final four goals in the period, giving Lehigh a commanding 9-4 lead heading into the fourth.
Lehigh capped off a dominant afternoon with a strong fourth quarter, adding two goals from Breslin, one from Kelly, and another from Morgan to secure a 13-5 victory.
