BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's tennis team dropped a tightly-contested match to Siena Saturday evening inside the Lewis Tennis Center. Five of the eight contested matches featured tiebreaks or 10-point super tiebreaks and in the end the visiting Saints came away with a 4-3 victory. Siena won the doubles point in a tiebreak at the third flights and picked up its third and fourth points in third-set 10-point tiebreaks.
Â
Sophomore Hamsa Javagal won in both doubles and singles and classmate Allyce Gaborik added a straight-set singles victory for the Mountain Hawks, who fall to 1-4 in the spring season.
Â
Siena (4-6) posted a 7-5 win at No. 1 doubles before Javagal teamed with first-year Bella Peter's to defeat Maanya Viswanath and Reegan Mullaney 7-2 in a tiebreak at No. 2 to even doubles at 1-1. In the decisive No. 3 doubles match Siena's Madeline De Faber-Schumacher and Emma Boggiali won a tiebreak 8-6 over junior Anushka Dania and first-year Helena Cilella to claim the doubles point. The Lehigh duo was unable to capitalize on several match points.
Â
Lehigh did not have a player at No. 6 singles, as Siena extended its lead to 2-0. Gaborik posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Boggiali to put the Mountain Hawks on the board. Both senior Junmoke James and junior Anushka Dania won their first sets at No. 2 and No. 4, respectively, but were pushed to third sets, which were played as 10-point super tiebreaks. Both players came up short in tightly contested tiebreaks as Siena went ahead 4-1.
Â
Javagal rallied after losing the first set in a tiebreak to take the second set 6-4 against Meagan Brown at the top flight. In the tiebreak, Javagal outlasted Brown 11-9 for Lehigh's second win of singles play. Cilella picked up a win at No. 5 when Mullaney was unable to continue due to injury.

The Mountain Hawks will open Patriot League play next Saturday when they visit Holy Cross for a 4 p.m. match.
