Mountain Hawks Drop Spring Break Opener Against Eastern Illinois

ORLANDO – In the first of two spring break matches in Florida, the Lehigh women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Eastern Illinois Monday morning at the USTA National Campus. Senior Junmoke James posted wins in both singles and doubles to lead the Mountain Hawks, who are now 2-5 on the season.

The match began with singles action and EIU claimed four of the six matches to go up 4-2. James won in straight sets over Brittany Steven at the No. 4 flight, 6-4, 7-5 to put the Mountain Hawks on the board.

Junior Megha Dania posted Lehigh's other point with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Elizaveta Bukraba-Ulanova at the No. 2 flight. The matches at No. 1 and No. 5 singles both went to three sets with the Panthers claiming both victories.

In doubles action, Eastern Illinois added a fifth point with wins at the No. 3 and No. 1 flights. James teamed with sophomore Allyce Gaborik to post Lehigh's lone doubles win, taking a tiebreak 7-5 to defeat Steven and Madeline Monroy at the No. 2 flight.

The Mountain Hawks will wrap-up their spring break trip on Wednesday when they face Quinnipiac at 2:30 p.m.
