
Mountain Hawks Dominate Wofford in 17-1 Victory

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Lehigh's offense shined on Saturday afternoon inside Gibbs Stadium, with four Mountain Hawks capturing hat tricks in Lehigh's 17-1 victory over Wofford. The Lehigh women's lacrosse team earned its second win of the season in its largest victory since 2021 when the Mountain Hawks defeated American 21-6.
Leading the Lehigh offense was senior Emma Eberhardt and junior Olivia Memeger who both finished the day with four goals and one assist. Memeger tallied her third consecutive hat trick of the season while Eberhardt secured her first hat trick of the season.
Senior Katia Carnevale and sophomore Casey O'Connor were the third and fourth Mountain Hawks to register a hat trick against the Terriers, both tallying three goals. Seniors Gabby Schneider and Cassie Marte alongside junior Emma Fiore added one goal each for Lehigh.
On the defensive side, Marte and Eberhardt tallied one caused turnover while graduate student Jenna Garden also added one of her own. Sophomore Lauren Warfield led the Mountain Hawks with three ground balls. Junior goalkeeper Hayley Hunt tallied eight saves for Lehigh while sophomore Julia DeLitta picked up three saves for the Mountain Hawks.
The Mountain Hawks opened up the game with a surge of offensive intensity, scoring five goals in nine minutes to end the first quarter with a 5-0 lead. Memeger and Eberhardt scored two goals during the first quarter while Carnevale added one for Lehigh.
Lehigh continued to bring the offensive intensity into the second quarter, with O'Connor scoring all three of her goals within the first three minutes to earn her first collegiate hat trick. Memeger was the second Mountain Hawk to claim a hat trick, scoring her third goal of the game with seven minutes remaining in the first half. Carnevale ended the first half on a high note, picking up her second goal of the game to give Lehigh the 10-0 lead going into halftime.
Wofford opened up the third quarter with its only goal of the game, just 40 seconds into play. Both teams battled for the next six minutes before Fiore secured her first goal as a Mountain Hawk. With three minutes remaining in the third quarter, Carnevale and Eberhardt both scored their third goals of the game to give Lehigh the 13-1 lead going into the fourth.
The Mountain Hawks opened up the fourth quarter with their 14th goal of the game, scored by Marte. With five minutes left in the game, Schneider picked up assists on goals from Eberhardt and Memeger before scoring a goal of her own in the final minute of play.
Lehigh led Wofford 33-21 in shots while the Mountain Hawks and Terriers ended the game tied at 11-11 in draw controls. Wofford's Brenna Duley scored the Terriers' only goal of the game. Olivia Abe led Wofford with two caused turnovers while Terriers' goalkeeper Aislinn Washburn tallied six saves.
Lehigh will return to Bethlehehm on Saturday, Feb. 25 to host Saint Francis at 12 p.m. on ESPN+. The Mountain Hawks will open up the month of March with a road trip to La Salle on Wednesday, March 1 at 3 p.m.
