Mountain Hawks Top Saint Francis (Pa.) 15-5 For Third Straight Win

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior Gabby Schneider led the way with six goals as the Lehigh women's lacrosse team cruised to its third straight victory, 15-5 over Saint Francis (Pa.) Saturday at the Ulrich Sports Complex.
The Mountain Hawks led 6-1 after one quarter and scored nine of the game's first 10 goals. Lehigh's starting attack of Schneider, seniors Emma Eberhardt and Katia Carnevale, and junior Olivia Memeger combined for 13 of the 15 goals as the Mountain Hawks moved to 3-1 on the season.
Schneider added two assists for a game-high eight points. Eberhardt added five points on three goals and two assists, plus a team-high six draw controls. Memeger also had a five-point day with two goals and three assists, while Carnevale contributed two goals, an assist and a team-leading three caused turnovers.
Goals from Schneider and sophomore Casey O'Connor staked Lehigh to an early 2-0 lead before Bella Fisher answered for Saint Francis. Lehigh scored the next seven goals to go up 9-1 and after Autumn McHenry scored for the Red Flash, Schneider's fourth goal of the afternoon gave Lehigh a 10-2 lead at halftime.
Carnevale scored with 7:47 to play in the fourth quarter to put the Mountain Hawks up 10 at 14-4. Senior Cassie Marte scored Lehigh's 15th and final goal less than a minute later. Marte added four draw controls and two groundballs for the Mountain Hawks.
Lehigh held a 39-14 advantage in shots and a 13-11 edge in draw controls. The Mountain Hawks caused 10 of Saint Francis' 14 turnovers.
In goal, junior Hayley Hunt made two saves in the first half. Sophomore Julia DeLitta made three saves and senior Maggie Roberts added two in the latter half of the fourth period.
For Saint Francis (1-1), Elyssa Enrique and CeCe Newman split time in goal with both keepers recording six saves. McHenry had two of the Red Flash's five goals on the day.
The Mountain Hawks will play their next four games away from the Ulrich Sports Complex beginning with a Wednesday trip to Philadelphia to face La Salle. Opening draw is set for 3 p.m. with broadcast coverage on ESPN+
