BETHLEHEM, Pa. - After capturing the series sweep against Loyola on Saturday, the Lehigh women's basketball team will look to capture another series sweep when the Mountain Hawks travel to Annapolis, Md., on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. battle with Navy.Â
Lehigh comes into Wednesday's game with a 12-12 overall record (8-5 PL) and Navy is 1-23 (1-12). The Mountain Hawks sit in third place in the Patriot League, and the Midshipmen are 10th in the league.Â
Navy's only win of the season was against Loyola, who Lehigh just defeated. Frannie Hottinger had a game-high of 28 points and 13 rebounds. On Monday, she was named the Patriot League Player of the Week for the seventh time this season. She also recorded her 1,000th point. She only needs seven more rebounds to tally her 500th career rebound, which would make her the eighth player in program history to reach 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.Â
Mackenzie Kramer is just 12 points away from hitting the 1,000 point mark, which would make her the 23rd player in program history to achieve the milestone.Â
In the first meeting against Navy, Lehigh had a fast start, hitting 10 three-pointers in the first quarter. The Mountain Hawks won 77-42 on Jan. 8. They were 13-of-27 from beyond the arc. Lehigh held the Midshipmen to just five points in the first frame.Â
Navy is led by Sydney Watts, who averages 13.7 points per game. Navy's Maren Louridas has had a strong start to her rookie campaign, winning five Patriot League Rookie of the Week awards. Her most recent honor came on Monday.Â
The Midshipmen are coming off of a loss to Army. They were winning for the majority of the game until Army hit a game-winner with three seconds remaining.Â
Lehigh is 35-33 all-time against Navy. The Mountain Hawks have won the last seven matchups against the Midshipmen.Â
