Lehigh Falls to American on Senior Day

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh Mountain Hawks fell to the American Eagles 62-60 on Wednesday evening on Senior Day. With the loss, Lehigh finishes the regular season 15-13 overall and 11-7 in Patriot League play and as the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Patriot League Tournament. American ends its regular season on a positive note, finishing 7-22 overall and 5-13 in Patriot League play.
Senior Lily Fandre scored a game-high 23 points for Lehigh. Fandre has scored 20 or more points in 11 of the Mountain Hawks' 28 regular-season games.
For American, Charlotte Tuhy scored a team-high 22 points, shooting 46% from the field and 2-for-4 from 3-point range.
For the game, American shot 46% from the field, while Lehigh shot 40% but knocked down just five of its 21 3-point attempts.
American controlled the first half, outscoring Lehigh in both second-chance points and points in the paint to build a 10-point halftime lead. The Eagles also made four 3-pointers compared with Lehigh's one and led 34-24 at the break.
Nine second-half points from first-year Leia Edwards helped propel Lehigh back into the contest. With Lehigh trailing 37-27 midway through the third quarter, baskets from Lily Fandre and Whitney Lind, along with a corner 3-pointer from Alana Reddy, helped the Mountain Hawks enter the fourth quarter down just three.
After a couple of baskets from Edwards, Lehigh's defense forced a steal that led to a 3-pointer by Lily Fandre, giving the Mountain Hawks a 50-48 lead with a little more than seven minutes to play.
Lehigh extended its lead to five before American responded with a run that allowed the Eagles to regain the lead and hold on for a 62-60 victory.
