Lehigh Suffers First Loss of the Year To Morgan State

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Mountain Hawks suffered their first loss of the 2022 season on Saturday at Lewis Indoor Tennis Center. Lehigh fell 4-3 to Morgan State in its second match this year. 

The men's tennis team fell behind early as Morgan State took the doubles point. At the No. 2 spot, Gary Fishkin and Steven Nazaroff secured an impressive 6-0 victory, but the Bears captured the other two flights. 

First-year Marc Blekhman secured Lehigh's first win in singles play. Blekhman defeated Morgan State's Rhajzon Rankins 6-0, 6-3. Senior Zack Elliott secured the Mountain Hawks' second win in singles play. Elliott defeated Mikeal Carpenter 6-2,6-3.

Junior Jeremy Learner was the last Mountain Hawk to grab a win in singles play against Morgan State. Learner defeated Martial Kawunde 6-2, 6-0 in the fifth flight. 

Lehigh will compete in two matches next weekend. The Mountain Hawks head to Drexel to battle the Dragons on Saturday at 11 a.m. Lehigh will head back to Lewis Tennis Center on Sunday to battle Hofstra at 2 p.m.
