
Mountain Hawks Fall to Drexel In First Road Match of the Year

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Lehigh men's tennis lost its first road match of the 2022 season on Saturday. The Mountain Hawks battled Drexel in a close match at the Drexel Tennis Bubble in Philadelphia before falling 4-3. Â
Lehigh fell behind early in the match as the Dragons took the doubles point, winning in the second and third flights. At the No. 1, senior Zack Elliott and first-year Marc Blekhman claimed the Mountain Hawks' only victory in doubles, winning 6-2.Â
Trailing 1-0 going into singles play, junior Jeremy Learner won the first singles match for Lehigh. At the No. 3, Learner defeated Drexel's Xandy Hammitt 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. The Mountain Hawks lost the next three singles matches following Learner.Â
Junior Matt Kleiman stepped up, winning the second singles match for Lehigh. Kleiman competed in the fifth flight, defeating Matvey Radionov 6-4, 4-6, 10-8. Following Kleiman's victory, senior Gary Fishkin grabbed a win of his own. At the No. 6, Fishkin defeated Juan Manual Sanchez 6-2, 6-4.Â
The Mountain Hawks will travel back to Bethlehem where they hope to bounce back from Saturday's loss. Lehigh will take on Hofstra at the Lewis Tennis Center at 2 p.m. on Sunday.Â
