BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Ella Imhof of the Lehigh women's tennis team was named Academic All-League for the first time in her career, as announced by the league office on Friday. The sophomore owns an outstanding 3.91 cumulative GPA with her major being bioengineering. The second-year athlete also made the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll during her first season in 2020.
Imhof took a big jump from her first season to her second, as the sophomore played the majority of the season at the No. 2 spot in singles and a few matches at the No. 3 spot. In the shortened season, Imhof registered a 4-4 overall mark in singles for the Mountain Hawks. Competing at the No. 2 spot in doubles all year, Imhof rattled off four wins to help the Brown and White. The sophomore was a big reason why Lehigh managed to get the No. 4 seed in the 2021 Patriot League Women's Tennis Championship.
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor. These honors recognize student-athletes who excel in their sport and the classroom. The awards are voted on by Patriot League tennis sports information directors, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.
