
Mountain Hawks take down Villanova to improve to 2-0 on the season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- On a sunny afternoon where they were honoring Harry Wang and Jacob Edelchik on Senior Day, the Lehigh men's tennis team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 6-1 win over the Villanova Wildcats. The Mountain Hawks took the doubles point and won five singles matches.

Moving to singles, Lehigh's Elliott (6-1, 6-1), Wang (6-1, 6-2) and Jeremy Leaner (6-2, 6-2) all won decisively in straight sets.

Edelchik and Matt Kleiman both gutted out wins in three-setters on the afternoon. Despite dropping the first set at the No. 3 spot, Kleiman showed resilience by taking the next two to win in dramatic fashion, 6-7, 6-2, 11-9. Then at No. 5 singles, Edelchik took the first and third sets to win. The senior won by a score of 7-5, 3-6, 10-8.

Up next, the Mountain Hawks will be traveling up north to lovely Hamilton, N.Y. Lehigh will battle with Colgate on Saturday, March 27.

For the second consecutive time this season, Lehigh got off to a good start by winning the doubles point. Lehigh won two of the matches to secure the early point. The dynamic duo of Wang and Zack Elliott took the dub at the No. 1 spot with a 6-2 win.
