Mountain Hawks improve to 3-0 with win over Colgate

HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Lehigh's men's tennis team (3-0, 2-0) went up north to Colgate on Saturday for a business trip and got the job done, as the Mountain Hawks' four wins in singles were enough to propel them past the Raiders. With the win, Lehigh improves to 3-0 for the first time since the 2013-14 season.
In doubles, the Raiders were able to sneak out the point by winning two of the matches. Lehigh's top pair of Zack Elliott and Harry Wang took a 6-4 win over their opponents. The No. 2 pair of Jacob Edelchik and Gary Fishkin lost a close 7-6 match.
Despite dropping the doubles point, Lehigh's will and determination wouldn't let Colgate take the win. The Brown and White showed adversity by taking four singles matches. Matt Kleiman, Jacob Edelchik and Jordan Paul all won in straight sets for Lehigh. Kleiman took the win by a score of 6-3, 6-2, while Edelchik's 7-6, 6-2 victory helped Lehigh. At the No. 6 spot, the freshman Paul's victory was 6-2, 6-2.
Wang, the senior captain for Lehigh, sealed the victory for the Brown and White. Despite dropping the first set 7-6, the senior leader fought back and took the final two sets 7-6, and 6-3 to secure the dub for the Mountain Hawks.
Up next, Lehigh will travel to Annapolis and take on the Naval Academy next Saturday.
