Mountain Hawks drop match to Navy on Saturday in Annapolis

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – In a match between two 3-0 teams, the Lehigh men's tennis team (3-1, 2-1) fell to the Navy Midshipmen on Saturday afternoon at The Yard by a 5-2 score. With the loss, Navy snapped Lehigh's three-match win streak.
 
The Mountain Hawks fell behind early as Navy stole the doubles point away from Lehigh. Navy's top two pairs recorded wins of 6-0 and 6-4 to get the point. At the No. 3 spot, Jeremy Learner and Matt Kleiman won a nail-biting affair, 7-6 (11-9).
 
In singles, Kleiman and freshman Jordan Paul notched the lone wins for Lehigh. At the No. 3 spot, Kleiman defeated Navy's Jake Fishkin 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6). The first-year player Paul won in straight sets over Jan Kjellberg, 6-3, 6-4.
 
At the No. 2 spot, senior Harry wang dropped a back-and-forth affair to Navy's Derrick Thompson. Ultimately, Thompson did enough and the 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) favored him. Lehigh's Jacob Edelchik suffered a 6-4, 6-2 straight sets lost to Midshipmen's Gavin Segraves. Zack Elliott suffered a 6-0, 6-4 lost at the No,. 1 spot to Navy's Andrew Ton.
 
Up next, Lehigh will look to bounce back as they welcome in army West Point to the Ulrich Courts on Saturday, April 10.
