BALTIMORE – The Lehigh men's swimming and diving team attempted to bottle up some of the success that the women's team had on Saturday afternoon in Mangione Pool, but the Mountain Hawks (0-1, 0-1 PL) fell to Loyola Maryland, 218-80. The program's seven-meet win streak over the Greyhounds was snapped in the defeat, bringing the series record to 7-1 all-time in favor of Lehigh.
Lehigh tallied just one first place finish on the day behind senior Owen Thomas' performance in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 50.91. Thomas also got third in the 200 back (1:56.04).
Glenn Lasco and Tim Norris went 2-3 in the 200 freestyle and Miles Cox swam to a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly at 1:53.91, also getting second in the 100 fly (51.30).
Lasco also picked up second place swims in both the 100 free (46.13) and 50 free (21.01).
For the relays, the tandem of Thomas, Connor Sept, Elvin Lee and Aiden McCurley scored second in the 200 medley relay to begin the afternoon with a time of 1:33.94. The quartet of Lasco, Norris, Alex Patti and McCurley swam to a time of 1:26.67 in the 200 free relay and a third place finish to bookend the meet.
On the diving board, Addison Cochran scored two second place finishes in the one-meter dive (240.22) and three-meter dive (246.60).
Lehigh will look to get back on track when West Chester visits Jacobs Pool on Friday at 5 p.m. and Rider comes to town Saturday at 1 p.m.
