
Women's Tennis hosts Siena and Marist this weekend

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's tennis team will be much busier this weekend than last week. This time around, the Mountain Hawks will host Siena on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., while then facing Marist 22 hours later on Sunday. Both contests will be inside the Lewis Indoor Tennis Center.
With their season-opening win against Saint Francis last Saturday, the Mountain Hawks started the season off 1-0 for the first time since the 2007 season. The Brown and White will look to build off the success they achieved last weekend.
LAST TIME OUT
Lehigh dominated the Red Flash, 7-0. The Brown and White won all nine matches in team win. Sibel Can, Paula Gonzalez, Casey Zhong and Catherine Meighan all won singles matches in straight sets. Then in doubles, all three pairs won easily. The freshmen duo of Ella Imhof and Junmoke James produced their first wins of the spring.

"The women had a great start to the season against a gritty and determined Saint Francis team," claimed assistant coach Hannah Fleckenstein. "Throughout the past two weeks of practices, I have seen a lot of talent and hard work, but most importantly a lot of heart. I am proud of the way they competed. With every week I hope to see them work harder, hone in more and get hungrier for each match."
SCOUTING SIENA
Siena was picked third coming into the season in the MAAC Preseason Coaches Pool. The Saints will begin their season Friday night at Saint Joseph's. Siena returns its top three singles players in Meagan Brown, Kylie Mullaney and Nanea Perkins. Siena is also already 1-0 In MAAC play after winning against Rider in the fall.
SCOUTING MARIST
Maris was picked preseason fourth in the 2020 MAAC Preseason Coaches Pool. The Red and White picked up two wins in the fall that will counted on their record, wins over Monmouth and Rider. Julia Gabay and Vanessa Ciano and 2-0 in the No. 1 and No. 3 spots.
PREVIOUS MEETING
The last time the Mountain Hawks and Saints squared off, Lehigh got the upper hand last year, winning 5-2. Lehigh's last previous match against Marist was in 2010, and the Mountain Hawks defeated the Red Foxes, 5-2
