Lehigh seeks first league win Sunday at Colgate

3/29/2019 2:24:00 PM | Women's Tennis

BETHLEHEM Pa. – The Lehigh women's tennis team travels to central New York on Sunday to take on Patriot League opponent, Colgate. The match has been moved from Hamilton to Syracuse with start time now set for 3 p.m.

The Mountain Hawks (4-9, 0-3 Patriot League) are still in the hunt for their first Patriot League win after league losses to Boston University and Navy last weekend.

Last Saturday, Lehigh fell to a challenging Navy team that is consistently at or near the top of the Patriot League standings. Sophomore Paula Gonzalez earned Lehigh its lone point in the top singles flight, beating her adversary, Ansofi Wreder, in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.

That same Navy team was also Colgate's last opponent and last loss. The Raiders were blanked by the Mids, 7-0 on Sunday. Colgate is 3-12 overall and 1-3 in the Patriot League with a win over Holy Cross and losses to Army, Bucknell and Navy.

Last year Lehigh blanked Colgate 7-0 in Bethlehem.

After the Colgate match, Lehigh hosts league-leader Army West Point on Friday, April 12. The Mountain Hawks will play three of their final four matches at home with the lone road match being at Lafayette.
