BETHLEHEM Pa. – The Lehigh men's tennis team will return home for the first time in almost three weeks when it hosts Saint Joseph's on Friday at 3:30 p.m. before traveling to Temple on Sunday at 10 a.m.
Â
In its last outing, Lehigh suffered a tough loss in Annapolis to Patriot League opponent, Navy, to fall to 7-5 on the season. Sophomore Harry Wang accounted for the Mountain Hawks' only point that day in an exciting, three set, come-from-behind victory over the raining Patriot League Rookie of the Year, Andrew Ton. Wang handed Ton his first ever Patriot League singles loss coming from a set down to win 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Â
Navy swept the doubles point, but the singles matches at No. 3 and No. 4, played by junior Jack Martin-Dyer and freshman Gary Fishkin respectively, both went to 10-point tie breaks in close matches that went down to the wire.
Â
Lehigh is now 1-1 in the Patriot League after blanking Loyola 7-0 in Maryland the day before the Navy match.
Â
Saint Joseph's is coming off a strong spring break trip down to Orlando where it won the last two of three matches. In their last match on Friday, March 15, the Hawks handily beat Fairleigh Dickinson 5-1. Before that, they took care of Merrimack, 6-1.
Â
After Friday, Lehigh will face off against Temple in Philadelphia. Headed into this Thursday's match against Hofstra, Temple stands 5-6 and is coming off a close loss to a very strong University of Pennsylvania squad (who owns a 10-3 record).
Â
Following this weekend, the Mountain Hawks return to action on Sunday, Mar. 31 at Colgate.
