Â
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The nation's active career leader in caused turnovers, senior Craig Chick is set to take over the @NCAALax Instagram story on Monday and give fans a glimpse into a day in the life of a Lehigh men's lacrosse student-athlete.
Â
Chick has rewritten the record books in his first three seasons in the Brown and White. A 2018 USILA All-American and a two-time Inside Lacrosse All-American, Chick's 118 career turnovers are already the Lehigh and Patriot League career records and stand eighth in NCAA history. With a strong senior season, he has a chance to break the NCAA all-time record of 158 held by Detroit's Jordan Houtby.
Â
Chick is a two-time first team All-Patriot League honoree. He is the Lehigh single-season record holder in caused turnovers (41 set last season), breaking his own record of 40 set as a sophomore. As a freshman, Chick's 37 caused turnovers led the nation.
Â
Garnering Inside Lacrosse second team All-America laurels, Chick is Lehigh's first All-American named to the first or second team in at least the last 87 years. Since 1931, Lehigh's 34 All-Americans have all been either third team or honorable mention honorees. Chick wrapped up his junior season by posting 13 groundballs and six caused turnovers in the Patriot League Tournament to earn All-Tournament Team recognition, helping lead the Mountain Hawks to the Patriot League Championship Game for the first time since 2014.
Â
Chick finished his junior season with 50 groundballs, his third straight year with 50 or more GBs. An anchor of Lehigh's defense which was ranked as high as sixth nationally last season, Chick broke the Lehigh career caused turnover record on Mar. 20 at No. 18/19 Hofstra and broke the league mark two games later at Boston University. Chick had at least one caused turnover in every game this season, including multiple in 12-of-17 contests.
