BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following a historic season on the water, the Lehigh women's rowing team has placed a pair of student-athletes on the Academic All-Patriot League team, as announced on Thursday. Senior Elise Fredericks was named to the team for a second straight season while sophomore Sarah Boyer garnered a spot on the 11-person squad as well. Fredericks becomes Lehigh's first multiple-time Academic All-League recipient since Leah Paulson received the honor in three consecutive years from 2013-15. It marks just the third time in school history that the Mountain Hawks have featured multiple honorees in the same season.

Fredericks, who owns a stellar 3.86 grade point average as a marketing major, recently received a Supply Chain Excellence Award. Last year, she garnered a 2017 Scholar-Athlete Award from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) for owning a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher following the fall semester. Named to the Dean's List nearly every semester of her collegiate career, which included a perfect 4.0 term last spring, Fredericks has also been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll for owning a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. She has garnered the Faculty Athletics Council Award as well.

Boyer owns a 3.91 GPA as a materials science and engineering major. She has been named to the Dean's List every semester of her collegiate career for a semester GPA of 3.6 or higher, which includes a perfect 4.0 semester this fall. She has been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and received the Faculty Athletics Council Award as well. The former track and field/cross country student-athlete at Lehigh has been named to the USTFCCA All-Academic team.

Both Fredericks and Boyer were a part of Lehigh's medal-winning Second Varsity Eight crew at the Patriot League Championship with Fredericks in the seven seat and Boyer in the two seat. They helped the 2V make a late surge to finish in third place with a time of 6:51.134, 0.38 seconds ahead of Bucknell in fourth. Lehigh rowing entered the year with zero medals at the Patriot League Championship and won two last Friday (with the Varsity Four also winning bronze). The Second Varsity Eight impressed all season, with another highlight coming when it became the program's first-ever Patriot League Boat of the Week following an impressive performance at the Murphy Cup. The Mountain Hawks finished second in their heat to reach the grand final. They posted a time of 6:59.44 in the heat, only trailing Temple and finishing ahead of Fordham (7:03.42), Duquesne (7:20.50) and Loyola (7:35.48).

The Mountain Hawks wrapped up a season of firsts last Friday, including the program's first-ever NCAA Regional Ranking, the first Patriot League Boat of the Week in program history, the first Patriot League Championship medals in school history, the best league championship performance in program history (tied for fourth place with 33 points) and much more.
