Lehigh to Send Athletes to Three Meets in Pennsylvania this Weekend

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – A busy late week and weekend awaits the Lehigh track and field programs over the next few days, as the Mountain Hawks will send athletes to three different meets in Eastern Pennsylvania. Several athletes will be among 73 competitors from 24 teams to compete at the Mondschein Multi, a meet featuring only a heptathlon and decathlon. Others will stay in Bethlehem for a meet across town at Moravian's Breidegam Track on Friday and Saturday, with the rest heading to Bucknell for the Bison Outdoor Classic on Saturday and Sunday.
The four days of activity kicks off on Thursday afternoon with five athletes competing at the Mondschein Multi at Kutztown University. Monica McGavin, Tyler Bannister, Maddy Harding, and Noa Levy will all compete in the heptathlon, and Kyle Sult will represent the Lehigh men in the decathlon. On Friday, day one of the Coach P. Invitational will get underway across town at Moravian with the hammer throw and shot put at 3:30 p.m., with the 10,000m runs beginning at 6 p.m. All other events will take place on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. and run throughout the day until concluding with the 4x400m relays at 5:35 p.m. A full schedule of events can be found here and live results will be also be available.
Saturday will also serve as the first day of competition at the two-day Bison Outdoor Classic. The Mountain Hawks have 94 accepted entries spread between the men's and women's teams for the meet. The 1500m, 5K, 10K and steeplechase will take place throughout Saturday afternoon and evening, with all of Sunday's action beginning at 9:30. Lehigh is coming off last Sunday's Lehigh-Lafayette dual meet in Easton, where the men captured a 113-87 win for their sixth win in their last eight tries against the Leopards. Junior Emre Soybas won his second Track Athlete of the Meet award after taking the 200m and 400m dashes. Senior Henry Paul set a new PR in his steeplechase win, and Sean Brown (800m) and Kyle Berman (1500m) were also among the winners for LU. John Tolbert also led a Lehigh sweep of the podium in the 5K.
The Lehigh women reset two school records courtesy of Brittany Curtin in the discus and Kaitlyn Toman in the pole vault to power past Lafayette 128-75. Their efforts earned them Field Athlete and Rookie of the Week, respectively, from the Patriot League. Curtin also won the shot put and took second in the hammer throw, and Noreen Byrne won the 100m and 400m hurdles to earn Track Athlete of the Meet honors. Lehigh won all eight field events and 16 of the 19 events overall.
