DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Mountain Hawks capped off a successful weekend trip to Davidson as they won the final game of a three-game set, 7-1, Sunday to win the series against the defending Atlantic 10 and NCAA Regional Champions.

Lehigh (4-6) received a strong performance on the mound and played error-free defense, while keeping consistent pressure on the Wildcats (8-3) throughout the game and capitalized on their miscues. Jason Reynolds (1-2) earned his first victory of the season as he compiled a season-high seven strikeouts and Ethan Frohman picked up his second save in 3.1 innings of shutout relief work. Offensively, eight different Mountain Hawks recorded a hit and seven different players scored runs.

After taking a 2-1 lead heading into the seventh, Lehigh broke open some breathing room with a two-run seventh inning performance. Mike Maguire drove in the first run with a RBI double to left which scored Chris Kersey from first. Maguire later came home as Jeff Shanfeldt hit a sac fly to left.

Lehigh held Davidson hitless in the bottom of the seventh and then broke open a comfortable 7-1 lead with three runs in the eighth. After leading off the inning with a walk, Ryan Bonshak scored as Quinn McKenna successfully executed a sacrifice bunt and a throwing error by the third baseman allowed Bonshak to score. Following a walk by Jake Kochmansky, the Mountain Hawks went back to the short game as Eric Cichocki recorded a RBI bunt single to bring home McKenna. Lehigh capped off the scoring as Maguire recorded his second RBI of the game with a sac fly to right center.

Frohman surrendered just one hit in the final two frames to seal the win for LU. The one hit in the eighth inning was the only allowed in the final three innings.

The Mountain Hawks will return to action Wednesday with their first midweek contest of the season when they travel to Coppin State. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
