BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Standing 1-1 in Patriot League play, the Lehigh women's lacrosse team will hit the road on Wednesday for a big matchup at defending league champion and No. 13 Navy. Opening draw at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium is set for 5 p.m. on the Patriot League Network. Wednesday will be a rematch of last season's Patriot League Semifinal between Lehigh and Navy, a game which came down to the final seconds with the Mids pulling out a tight 9-8 win.

Lehigh opened Patriot League play two Saturdays ago by jumping out to an 11-1 halftime lead at Boston University, on the way to an impressive 15-8 victory. The Mountain Hawks followed by playing a strong first half vs. No. 10 Loyola on Saturday. The teams stood tied at three with less than nine minutes remaining in the first half, but the Greyhounds opened a 5-3 halftime advantage and began the second half with 11 of the first 12 goals, on the way to the 18-5 final.

Freshman Samantha Sagi stopped 10-of-15 shots sent her way in the first half to keep the Mountain Hawks within striking distance, but the Greyhounds proved too much in the second. Lehigh finished with a 15-10 edge in draw controls, led by a career-high tying eight draws from senior Kayleen Kelly. Kelly is up to 47 draw controls on the season to tie Lehigh's single-season record held by Carli Sukonik (2012). Sophomore Sondra Dickey also had four draws against the Greyhounds to reach 45 on the year as well.

Wednesday wraps up an especially challenging three-game stretch to begin Patriot League play for the Mountain Hawks, facing last season's No. 1, 2 and 4 seeds (Lehigh was the 3 seed).

Navy is coming off a memorable run to the Final Four last season, defeating Penn, UMass and North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament before falling to Boston College in the National Semifinals. So far this year, the Mids stand 7-2 with their losses coming at BC (20-14) and Florida (19-16). Since the Florida defeat, Navy has beaten Colgate in overtime (13-12) and Bucknell (18-5). Three different Midshipmen have tallied 37+ points, led by 45 from Jenna Collins (36 goals, nine assists), 41 from Kelly Larkin (23 goals, 18 assists) and 37 from Julia Collins (26 goals, 11 assists). Collins leads the team with 48 draw controls and 21 groundballs while Blake Smith owns a team-leading 14 caused turnovers. Ingrid Boyum has started all nine games in goal, recording an 11.35 goals against average and 0.369 save percentage. Navy leads the nation in draw controls per game (18.11) and stand seventh nationally in scoring offense (15.56).

The Midshipmen have won eight consecutive games against Lehigh to take a 10-4 lead in the all-time series. The Mountain Hawks won four of the first six meetings between the two sides, with the first meeting coming in 2008 - a 15-12 Lehigh win. Lehigh's most recent victory in the series came on Apr. 23, 2011 at Navy by a 15-13 final.

Following Saturday's game, the Mountain Hawks travel to Army West Point on Saturday to face the Black Knights. Opening draw is set for 3 p.m.
