Lehigh-Lafayette Series to be Played at Lafayette Sunday and Monday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh's four-game Patriot League opening series against rival Lafayette has been shifted to Sunday, March 25 and Monday, March 26 due to the lingering effects of Winter Storm Toby. All four games will be played at Lafayette's Kamine Stadium at the Metzgar Fields Athletic Complex. The two doubleheaders are slated to start at 1 p.m. both days. All four games will be streamed live for free on the Patriot League Network.
Lehigh (8-10) is currently riding a two-game win streak after going 2-1 at Richmond's Spider Invitational last weekend. The Mountain Hawks posted a 10-3 victory over Monmouth before capping off the weekend with a 3-1 walk-off win over defending Ivy League Champion Yale on Sunday.
James Bleming, who hit the walk-off home run to defeat Yale, paces the squad with a .299 batting average on the season with a team-leading 13 runs scored. Ryan Malloy leads the team with a .475 slugging percentage and 17 RBI as he and Bleming are tied for the team lead with two home runs. Chris Kersey paces Lehigh with a .389 on-base percentage and owns a team-high four doubles with a .295 batting average.
Levi Stoudt (2-3) and Jason Reynolds (2-2) lead the team with two wins each on the season through their first five starts. Stoudt owns a 2.81 ERA and has compiled 18 strikeouts in his last two starts. Reynolds has found a groove as of late with 14 strikeouts and no walks with just one earned run allowed in his last two starts (12.1 innings).
Ethan Frohman leads the staff with 14.2 innings of work out of the bull pen and his tied with Matt Hand for the team lead with two saves on the year. Frohman has allowed just one run in last four appearances (11.1 innings) with 11 strikeouts and three walks. Chris Butera became the third pitcher to record a save this season as he tossed the final three innings in the win over Monmouth last Saturday with a career-high tying five strikeouts.
Lafayette (8-12) is coming off a 1-2 appearance in a three-game series at George Mason last weekend. The Leopards took the lead in the eighth inning of game two to secure a 3-2 victory for their lone win. George Mason won game one, 12-3, and held off a late surge by Lafayette in a 13-12 victory in game three.
The Leopards are led offensively by sophomore infielder John Marti who paces the Patriot League with a .391 batting average and leads Lafayette with a .494 on-base percentage. Preseason All-Patriot League selection Steve Cohen owns a .294 batting average and a .412 slugging percentage as he paces the team with 35 total bases on the season.
John Cain (0-3) and Brett Kreyer (1-3) will likely earn two of the starts on the bump in the upcoming series as they each lead the team with five starts on the season. Cain leads all starters with a 4.67 ERA through 17.1 innings of work, while Kreyer has a team-leading 23 strikeouts with a 6.04 ERA in 25.1 innings.
The Mountain Hawks entered this season with a nine-game winning streak over their rivals from Easton. Lehigh has swept the season series each of the last two seasons and has not lost a season series since 2009. The two teams split from 2011 through 2013.
With the Lafayette series shifted back a day, Lehigh is now scheduled to play six games in four days with a trip to Rider on Tuesday in the opening round of the Liberty Bell Classic, followed by the official home opener against Saint Peter's on Wednesday.
