Lehigh Women Sweep Singles in Victory over Mount St. Mary's

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Mountain Hawks ended their two-match skid with a convincing 6-1 victory over Mount St. Mary's Saturday inside Lewis Tennis Center. Lehigh improves to 3-3 on the season, while the Mountaineers remain winless at 0-5.
Lehigh faced an uphill battle coming out of the doubles matches as the Mount took two out of three from LU. Casey Zhong and Christina Auyeung posted Lehigh's lone doubles win as they defeated Alexa Quintanilla and Hannah Davis, 6-2, at the first flight. Zhong and Auyeung improve to 4-2 on the season.
Auyeung and Zhong carried their momentum into singles play as each picked up straight-set victories, along with their other four Lehigh teammates. Auyeung improves her record to 4-2 on the season with all matches at the top flight, while Zhong snapped a two-match skid and improves to 3-3 overall, 2-2 at the fourth flight.
Sibel Can notched the first singles win of the day as she cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Emma Blake at the third flight to improve her overall record to 4-2. Paula Gonzalez also made quick work of her match at the second spot as she defeated Sruthi Kamprath, 6-1, 6-1, to pull even at 3-3 on the year.
Grace Lin locked up the win for Lehigh with her 6-2, 6-3 victory over Megan Gamble at the fourth flight as she improves to 2-4 this season. Briana Maravich closed things out and completed the singles sweep with a 6-2, 6-0 victory Mia Pittman at the sixth flight. Maravich is now 2-4 this season, including a mark of 2-2 at sixth spot.
Lehigh will return to action next weekend for a home weekend doubleheader. LU will host Hofstra on Saturday at 10 a.m. before face off against Siena at 10 a.m. Sunday inside Lewis Tennis Center.
