Can Named Player of the Week

PATRIOT LEAGUE RELEASE

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League tabbed Lehigh women's tennis sophomore Sibel Can its Female Tennis Player of the Week as the league announced its weekly award winners Tuesday afternoon.

In a two-loss week for the Mountain Hawks, Can provided a bright spot as she led Lehigh with three combined wins in singles and doubles play. The Weston, Fla. native went 2-0 in doubles play on the week with partner Grace Lin while playing at the second flight. Can posted a record of 1-1 in singles play and was responsible for Lehigh's only team point a 6-1 loss to Delaware Sunday with her straight-set victory at the third flight.

The 2017 Patriot League Rookie of the Year is off to a 3-2 start to the season in singles play. She is also 3-2 this season in doubles play with Lin as the pairing is currently on a three-match win streak. Last season, Can tied for the team lead with 12 singles victories and 11 doubles wins.

Lehigh will be back in action Saturday with a home match against Mount St. Mary's at 10 a.m.
