Lehigh Opens 2017 Season with Weekend Home Stand

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Mountain Hawks kickoff the 2017 season with a pair of home contest on the weekend at the Ulrich Sports Complex.
Lehigh will open play against two-time defending MAAC Champion Rider at 8 p.m. on Friday before squaring off against George Washington on at Sunday at 4 p.m. Both matches will be streamed live on the Patriot League Network.
The Mountain Hawks are currently riding a three-game winning streak in season openers, including their last two at home. Lehigh is tied, 15-15-4, with Rider in the all-time series as the two teams will meet for the first time since a 5-0 victory by Lehigh in 2004. LU leads George Washington, 2-1, in the all-time series. Lehigh captured a 2-0 victory over GW when the team's last met in 2006.
Rider was picked second in the 2017 MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll behind Quinnipiac. Jose Aguinaga, Clement Bourret and Elliot Otmani all landed on the Preseason All-MAAC team. Aguinaga was named the MAAC Preseason Player of the Year as he led the conference with nine assists and ranked sixth with 19 total points last season.
The Broncs posted a 13-4-3 overall record last season with a 5-4-2 mark in road matches.
George Washington was ranked sixth in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll after ranking eighth in last year's regular season standings. The Colonials posted a 8-5-5 overall record a year ago with a 4-5-1 mark in road contests.
Following the weekend's opening home stand, the Mountain Hawks hit the road for three-straight, beginning with a trip to Ohio State on September 1.
