Mountain Hawks Earn Spring CSCAA Scholar All-America Accolades

BETHLEHEM, Pa - The Lehigh men's and women's swimming and diving teams both were named Spring Scholar All-America teams by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). To qualify for CSAA Scholar All-America honors, a team must have achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher through the 2017 spring semester.
The Lehigh women qualified for the award after compiling a 3.35 team GPA in the spring, while the Mountain Hawk men posted a 3.22 spring GPA. Both teams improved on their fall GPAs as the women posted a 3.22 and the men compiled a 3.21 GPA in the 2016 fall semester. Both Lehigh teams have earned CSAA Scholar All-America honors for five-consecutive semesters dating back to the spring semester of 2015.
For the first time in the 95-year history of the CSCAA, more than 700 teams have received Scholar All-America recognition. In total, 720 teams, representing 443 institutions achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the spring 2017 semester.
The Ivy League led Division I men's programs with Harvard, Dartmouth and Brown taking the top three spots. Harvard led with a 3.57 GPA. Among women's teams, Brown University (3.77) bested Northern Iowa and South Carolina by just 0.06.
In the Patriot League ranks, Lehigh finished second on the men's side among the six teams that qualified and fifth in the women's rankings among the seven teams that met the 3.0 GPA standard. American led in both the men's (3.37) and women's (3.65) rankings for Patriot League teams.
