BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh women's lacrosse team will continue its road swing with an 11 a.m. game at Virginia Commonwealth University on Monday. The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but was moved a day earlier due to the impending East Coast winter storm. Monday marks Lehigh's final tune-up before its Patriot League opener. The Mountain Hawks look to carry the momentum from an impressive 9-7 win at Richmond on Saturday.

Late in the first half, Lehigh created some distance following back-and-forth play. The Mountain Hawks used a 3-0 run to end the first half, 4-0 extending to the second,  to turn a 4-3 deficit into a 7-4 lead. The Spiders didn't get any closer than one the rest of the way.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Quinn led the offense with a career-high four goals and five points, her second straight hat trick and third straight multi-goal game. She's scored a goal in all five games this season, including four multi-goal efforts. Sophomore Courtney Henig tallied four points (two goals, two assists) while junior Haley Wentzel (two goals, one assist) and senior Allison LaBeau (one goal, two assists) each had three. Lehigh turned the ball over a season-low 14 times on Saturday. Junior Alexis King helped lead the defense with three groundballs and two caused turnovers, upping her season totals to 13 and a team-leading 11, respectively – all coming over the last four games. Senior goalkeeper Taylor Tvedt made eight saves, allowing just seven goals.

In the end, Lehigh held Richmond to a season-low seven goals after the Spiders averaged 14.5 over their first four games. Richmond had posted 18 at Liberty, 14 vs. Virginia, 11 against Old Dominion and 15 vs. American.

VCU is 3-3 on the season, owning wins over Campbell (14-10), Gardener-Webb (19-7) and Central Michigan (15-9) while falling to Old Dominion (10-7), UMBC (20-10) and Winthrop (19-7). Molly Barcikowski leads the team with 19 goals and 25 points while Keriann McTavish has 11 goals and a team-leading 13 assists. Sky Hyatt has tallied 15 points (12 goals, three assists) and Jessica Del Rossi owns 14 (11 goals, three assists). Hyatt also leads the team in groundballs (16) and draw controls (14) while Ria Peralta has seen the majority of time in goal, recording a 12.37 goals against average and .450 save percentage.

Monday will mark the first-ever meeting between Lehigh and VCU.

Following Monday's game, the Mountain Hawks will next head to Holy Cross on Saturday, Mar. 18 for their Patriot League opener against the Crusaders. Opening draw is set for 11 a.m.
