
Lehigh Opens Road Slate with Loss at Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Lehigh men's tennis team suffered a 6-0 setback at Penn State on Saturday in the first road match of the season. The Mountain Hawks are now 0-3 on the young season, while the Nittany Lions improve to 2-2.
Penn State began the day by recorded back-to-back 6-2 victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to secure the doubles point for the match. The pairing of George Cooper and Christopher Auteri played in tight battle with Penn State's Matt Galush and Aws Laaribi, but ultimately fell 6-5 (7-1) to the Nittany Lions.
The Nittany Lions found continued success as the match moved to the singles competition. PSU picked up convincing wins at No. 4 and No. 3 singles before a 6-1, 6-2 victory by Gabriel Nemeth over Jack Petersen at No. 2 singles clinched the match for Penn State.
Colin Nardella claimed Lehigh's lone set victory of the day with a 7-5 victory in the second set, but then fell, 11-9, in a super tiebreaker to David Kohan.
The Mounatain Hawks will back in action tomorrow in a home contest against Drexel. The match is slated to start at 3 p.m. inside the Lewis Tennis Center.
