Hsu named Patriot League Male Golfer of the Month

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh junior Johnny Hsu was named Patriot League Men's Golfer of the Month for October, the league announced Wednesday. Hsu played solidly in Lehigh's three tournaments last month, highlighted by earning medalist honors at the fall-ending Lehigh Invitational.
Hsu posted a stroke average of 73 over seven competitive rounds in stroke play last month, highlighted by a final round two under par 70 on the final day of the Lehigh Invitational on the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club. At one under par 143 for the 36-hole tournament, Hsu tied teammate Billy Johns for the top spot in a 12-team tournament won by the Mountain Hawks. The final round 70 broke the tie in a matching of cards to earn his first college tournament medal.
The Atlanta native also tied for 18th place at the Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational in early October, a tournament in which Lehigh tied for low team score only to settle for second place on a tiebreaker. Hsu was Lehigh's No. 2 finisher at the Connecticut Cup, tying for 12th place at three over par 219 (74-73-72).
In match play, Hsu won his singles match in the annual Presidents Cup matches with Lafayette and went 1-1 in nine-hole foursome play alongside Johns.
Hsu is the first Lehigh men's golfer to be recognized as Patriot League Golfer of the Month since Alan Borowsky in March 2007.
The Mountain Hawks will return to the links for their spring season beginning in February. Lehigh will also host the Patriot League Championship April 28-29 on the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club.
