
Mountain Hawks host Saint Joseph’s and Rider in pair of weekend matches

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's tennis team continues home action this weekend when the Mountain Hawks host Saint Joseph's and Rider. Lehigh will welcome the Hawks at 4 p.m. Saturday before hosting Rider at 2 p.m. Sunday inside the Lewis Tennis Center.
The Mountain Hawks are off to an impressive 6-1 start to the season and have won their last four matches. Lehigh earned 7-0 sweeps of Kutztown and Saint Joseph's last Saturday in the team's most recent action. The Mountain Hawks have also earned victories over Drexel (4-3), Saint Francis (Pa.) (5-2), Delaware (7-0) and Mount St. Mary's (4-3) this season, while Lehigh's lone loss was against Stony Brook (4-3).
Sophomore Jack Petersen is a perfect 6-0 in singles play, while senior Jeremy Kochman has locked up three wins at the top flight of singles. Kochman is 6-0 in doubles action playing alongside classmate Ricardo Prince and junior Graham Lehman.
Saint Joseph's carries a 4-3 record into Saturday's 4 p.m. match. and is coming off a 7-0 win over Delaware in the team's most recent action last Saturday. The Hawks have also picked up wins over Fordham (6-1), Lafayette (7-0) and Saint Peter's (5-2), while Saint Joseph's has fallen to Navy (6-1), Quinnipiac (5-2) and Monmouth (4-3). Lehigh and Saint Joseph's last met in dual action in 2013 as the Mountain Hawks earned a 5-2 win inside the Lewis Tennis Center.
Rider is 0-1 this season after dropping a 7-0 match at Navy in the team's season opener last Saturday. The Broncs are coming off a 1-11 2015 spring season.
Following this weekend's matches, Lehigh will host Villanova Wednesday at 4 p.m. inside the Lewis Tennis Center. The Mountain Hawks' spring break trip to Puerto Rico that slated for the following week was recently cancelled due to travel concerns caused by the Zika Virus.
