Kochman named Patriot League Player of the Week, Lehigh welcomes Temple Wednesday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the second time this spring, Lehigh men's tennis senior Jeremy Kochman has been named the Patriot League Player of the Week, as announced by the league Monday afternoon. Kochman and the Mountain Hawks are set to host Temple Wednesday in a midweek match at 4 p.m.
Kochman helped Lehigh earn a 7-0 sweep over Loyola Sunday in the Mountain Hawks' Patriot League opener by capturing wins at the top flights of both singles and doubles. He earned a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles playing alongside junior Graham Lehman before battling for a 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 victory over Loyola's Jordan Kutchta at No. 1 singles. The victory helped the Mountain Hawks earn their eighth-straight win and move to 10-1 overall and 1-0 in Patriot League action.
Kochman has gone 7-3 in singles and 9-1 in doubles play to lead the Mountain Hawks so far this season. Sophomore Jack Petersen is a perfect 10-0 in singles action, while junior Ethan Bogard is 8-0. Freshman George Cooper follows with an 8-1 singles record.
Temple has gone 10-4 during the spring and holds a 2-1 record against American Athletic Conference opponents. The Owls are coming off a 7-0 loss at Penn State in their most recent action Saturday. Temple has earned 7-0 sweeps over La Salle, St. Francis Brooklyn, Wagner and Delaware to highlight the Owls' spring season. Artem Kapshuk leads the team with an 11-1 record in singles play.
Temple earned a 5-2 win over Lehigh on March 24, 2015 in Philadelphia in the most recent meeting between the two teams. The Mountain Hawks earned the doubles point, while current junior Tyler Hansen earned Lehigh's lone singles win.
Following Wednesday's match against Temple, the Mountain Hawks will travel to Navy for their first road match of the season Saturday at 2 p.m.
