
Temple snaps Lehigh’s eight-match win streak with 6-1 victory Wednesday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's tennis team suffered its first loss since Feb. 12 Wednesday afternoon as the Mountain Hawks fell 6-1 to a strong Temple team on the Ulrich Varsity Courts. Junior Tyler Hansen earned Lehigh's lone singles win. The Mountain Hawks fall to 10-2 on the season, while Temple improves to 11-4.
The Owls earned the doubles point after claiming 6-0, 6-2 and 6-3 wins in doubles action.
Temple's Artem Kapshuk opened singles play with a 6-1, 6-0 win over freshman Bryant Born at No. 2 singles before junior Colin Nardella was defeated 6-4, 6-3 at the fifth flight. Hansen dropped the first set of No. 6 singles 4-6 to Filip Stipcic before coming back with a 6-1 win in the second set and winning by injury default to put Lehigh's lone point on the board.
Senior Jeremy Kochman dropped a tough 7-5, 6-3 battle at the top flight, while freshman George Cooper fell 6-2, 7-6 (6) at No. 4 singles. Sophomore Jack Petersen fell just short in a 7-6, 7-5 defeat to end the match at No. 3 singles.
The Mountain Hawks head to Navy Saturday for the team's first road match of the season.
