Mountain Hawks pick up 6-1 win over Loyola in Patriot League opener

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's tennis team earned a 6-1 win over Loyola Sunday evening in the Mountain Hawks' Patriot League opener inside the Lewis Tennis Center. The Mountain Hawks pick up their fourth-straight victory and move to 6-4 overall and 1-0 in league action, while Loyola falls to 5-4 overall and 0-1 in Patriot League matches.
Sophomore Christina Auyeung and junior Jamie Campisi began the evening with a 6-1 win at the top flight of doubles, before Loyola's Megan Hahn and Julie Clark evened the doubles matches with a 6-4 win at the fourth flight. Junior Cassidy Cruz and freshman Grace Lin battled for a 7-6 (5) win at the second flight to secure the doubles point for the Mountain Hawks.
Auyeung continued her dominant day with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Hahn in the top flight of singles to put Lehigh ahead 2-0. Sophomore Briana Maravich followed with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 4 singles before Loyola's Amanda Lanciano handed Lin a 6-4, 7-5 defeat at the second flight to keep the Greyhounds alive.
Campisi then clinched the match at No. 3 singles as she defeated Emily Hughes 6-4, 6-4. Cruz gutted out a 4-6, 7-5, 10-8 victory at the fifth flight before sophomore Kirstin Godau locked up the 6-1 win for Lehigh with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 6 singles.
Lehigh returns to action next Saturday with its first road match of the spring season as the Mountain Hawks travel to Navy for a 10 a.m. contest.
