Lehigh drops tight 4-3 battle at Navy

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Lehigh women's tennis team split the six singles matches with Navy Saturday afternoon, but the doubles point proved to be the difference as the Mids earned a 4-3 win. Lehigh falls to 6-5 overall and 1-1 in Patriot League action with the loss, while Navy improves to 15-8 overall and 1-1 in the league.
The Mids swept the three doubles matches by scores of 6-3, 6-3 and 7-5 to take a 1-0 lead behind the doubles point.
Sophomore Christina Auyeung suffered a 6-1, 6-2 loss to Amanda Keller at the top flight of singles before junior Jamie Campisi fell 6-2, 6-3 at the third flight and Navy took a 3-0 match lead. Sophomore Briana Maravich then earned a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles to keep Lehigh alive.
Navy clinched the match at No. 6 singles as Carlee Conway defeated sophomore Kirstin Godau 6-0, 6-4. Lehigh rallied to win the final two singles matches as freshman Grace Lin picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles and junior Cassidy Cruz battled for a 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-3) win at the fifth flight, but it wasn't enough as the Mids captured the 4-3 victory.
Lehigh returns to action at archrival Lafayette Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
