Lehigh stands in ninth place after day one of Tuxedo Autumn Invitational

TUXEDO PARK, N.Y. - The Lehigh men's golf team stands in ninth place after 36 holes at the Tuxedo Autumn Invitational Friday. The Mountain Hawks shot 619 (318-301) on the day. Sophomore Billy Johns led Lehigh on day one, shooting nine over par 151 (78-73).
Behind Johns was senior Dave Olexson tied for 29th at 153 (80-73), freshman Johnny Hsu tied for 37th at 156 (80-76), freshman Lee Hammerschmidt tied for 45th at 159 (80-79) and junior Brendan Worthy in 59th at 168 (87-81).
Competing as an individual, freshman Eamon Marone was tied for 40th at 158 (75-83).
Hsu and Hammerschmidt each had six birdies on the day while Johns had five to lead the Mountain Hawks.
Columbia leads the way after day one, shooting ten over par 578 (286-292). Drexel is right behind in second, shooting 579 (295-284).
Lehigh will wrap up action at the Tuxedo Autumn Invitational on Saturday morning with the final 18 holes. Tee times begin at 9 a.m.
Following this weekend, The Mountain Hawks will then begin preparations for their matchup with archrival Lafayette on Oct.13, before closing out their fall campaign by hosting the Lehigh Invitational Oct. 16-17 at Saucon Valley Country Club.
