Freshman Johns leads Lehigh on day one of Wildcat Invitational

MALVERN, Pa. – Led by a two over par 73 from freshman Billy Johns, the Lehigh men's golf team opened the Wildcat Invitational with a team score of 307 Monday at White Manor Country Club. Johns carded five birdies in his round and is tied for eighth overall, while as a team the Mountain Hawks are tied for ninth in a 16 team field.

Four of Johns' five birdies came on the back nine as he sits just three strokes behind the 18-hole leader Josh Holling of Binghamton.

Behind Johns, senior Carlos Kim shot 74 and is tied for 13th place. Senior Zach Allinson and junior Harley Abrams both shot 80 and are tied for 59th place. Lehigh's fifth scoring player is junior Dave Olexson, who sits in a tie for 77th place at 12 over par 83.

Senior Jack Russell is competing as an individual and sits in a tie for 74th place following an opening round 82.

Delaware shot 294 as a team to take a one stroke lead over Saint Joseph's after day one. Drexel sits in third place, three shots behind the Blue Hens.
