BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh women's lacrosse team will look to bounce back from a loss against nationally-ranked and defending Patriot League champion Loyola on Saturday as the Mountain Hawks look to move over .500 with a trio of games this week. Starting Tuesday, Lehigh will play the first of three road games in five days when the Mountain Hawks square off against Patriot League foe Bucknell (5 p.m.) before closing their week against Mount St. Mary's on Thursday (4 p.m.) and Bryant on Saturday (12 p.m.).

Lehigh comes into this week with a record of 3-5 and 1-2 mark in the Patriot League, which places the Mountain Hawks sixth in the league standings. On Saturday, The Mountain Hawks hung right with #16 nationally-ranked Loyola, going down by just two at the half and pulling back within three with 6:51 still remaining, but the Greyhounds were able to pull out the 10-6 victory. Senior Carli Sukonik and freshman Kierstyn Voiro each scored twice to lead the Lehigh offense while sophomore Taylor Tvedt made eight saves in a strong effort between the pipes.

The defense has been one of Lehigh's biggest strengths this season. Junior Kendall Garden and senior Lauren Willcox sit atop the Patriot League in caused turnovers. Garden leads the Patriot League with 20 and Willcox follows with 13. Tvedt ranks fourth in the Patriot League with a GAA of 8.23.

Bucknell will look to snap a six-game losing streak in its upcoming matchup with the Mountain Hawks. The Bison have a mark of 2-8 with a 0-3 record in league play, but have gone through many difficult opponents including two nationally-ranked teams in Penn State and Loyola. They are led by sophomore midfielder Maddy Molinari, who leads the team in goals with 18. Molinari's 21 points rank her eighth in the Patriot League. Junior Charlotte O'Donnell has been strong in goal, accumulating a save percentage of .500. Sophomore defender Lucia Smirich leads the team in groundballs (21) and caused turnovers (14).

Tuesday's game is a make-up of an earlier postponed game. The Mountain Hawks have taken the last five meetings against Bucknell, including a 10-4 win last season. Lehigh holds a 26-12 lead in the all-time series.

Mount St. Mary's will encounter its second Patriot League opponent of the year after the Mountaineers suffered a 12-4 loss to American earlier this month. On Thursday, they will host Lehigh looking for their second home and overall win of the year to improve on their current 1-6 mark. They are led by sophomore midfielder Kelly Maloney, who has tallied 17 points so far this season. Senior goalie Steph Rurkowski has played every minute in goal and owns a 11.13 GAA and .415 save percentage, along with a team-high 16 groundballs.

The last matchup between these two squads also resulted in 10-4 Lehigh win last spring, in the Mountain Hawks' season opener. That improved Lehigh's all-time record against Mount St. Mary's to 5-2.

Lehigh will conclude its week with a trip to Rhode Island to take on a strong Bryant team. The Bulldogs have been hot of late, winning their last three games. Bryant owns an impressive mark of 5-2 which includes a 9-6 victory in February over Patriot League rival Holy Cross. Prior to itsgame against Lehigh, Bryant takes on UMass-Lowell on Monday. The Bulldogs have been led by a goalie duo of freshmen. Freshmen Deja Andrews and Samantha Santeramo have combined for 52 saves and save percentage of .468. On the other side of the field, junior Lauren Desclazo has tallied an impressive 23 goals this season to pace the Bryant offense. Sophomore Emily Columbus owns a team-leading 29 points (19 goals, 10 assists).

Last season, Lehigh dropped a heartbreaking 13-12 overtime loss to Bryant in the first-ever meeting between the two sides.

After this busy week, the Mountain Hawks will return to action next Tuesday when they travel to Piscataway, N.J. to take on Rutgers. Opening draw is set for 7 p.m. on the Big Ten Network. This game will conclude nonleague play for the 2015 campaign.
